LG 32LE3300 user review
My auntie bought this TV to replace her old (and rather poor) 26in view sonic LCD TV witch gave up the ghost, so when It arrived I came down and set it up for her, hear are my thoughts on it.
This is the first line of LG`s new LED Tv`s aimed at the budget end of the market and as such are edge lit rather than back lit this means that the LED lights are all around the edge of the panel and they shine light in to illuminate the screen, the benefit of this is that the TV is incredibly slim and light and in addition it uses less power than regular LCD TVs. The down side is that the picture is no better than a conventional LCD TV. so if your buying an LED tv for amazing picture quality you may want to spend a lot more on a back lit model.
LG 32LE3300 Setting it up
As with all LCD tvs you need to fix the supplied stand to the TV and on some TV`s its easier than others, in this case others are easier, Its not that’s its rocket science its just that the manual covers 4 different models and when it gets to this one its relay hard to see what screws to use as the illustrations are quite small.
Tuning it on is a Little tricky the first time as the power button and and the volume/channel buttons are touch sensitive rather than physical buttons. However as with all LG`s setting up the channels is a doodle, just select your language and it will auto tune all your terrestrial and free view channels.
LG 32LE3300 Performance
The picture is fairly good in that its sharp and free of digital noise and artifacts and the colors are broad and vivid, its only weakness is that the TV struggles to block the light from the LED lights effectively so that claimed 100000:1 contrast ratio is looking more than a little shaky but then again LG aren’t the only ones playing the big numbers game with edge lit LED TV`s, It manages to do black but a regular LCD does a much better job,
What can Help is if you run the excellent Picture wizard feature, this runs you through a series of interactive tests to help you get the best picture, in the end I found having the back light set at 45/50 got the best balance.
Sound isn’t much to write home about, for near invisible speakers it does a good job of been rounded and clear just don’t expect them to be great with music channels.
LG 32LE3300 Connectivity
It has a rather generous 4 HDMI sockets witch is more than enough for anything you want to plug in to it, one neat trick is that there doesn’t seam to be any component sockets (handy for playing games in HD if you have an older xbox 360) but trust me there there! you get a couple of special adapters that give you both basic video and component sockets that seam to be missing. the only thing that’s missing is s-video but who uses that anyway?
LG 32LE3300 Looks
I couldn’t finish this with out commenting on how good it looks, its very slim and elegant and looks more expensive than it really is
LG 32LE3300 Summery
You cant go wrong with an LG nowadays in terms of ease of use and picture quality and although the LED technology is more of a miss than a hit in this case, it makes a great looker in the room and provides a perfectly decent TV for anyone who just wants to watch there favorite programs.
But If your after TV that offers superior picture and sound quality as well I would go for LG`s standard range of LCD TV`s in this price range, And if you want the supreme picture quality that LED promises you need to pay a lot more
